We fund grants and cooperative agreements that work to increase the number, quality, and ability of individuals in the public health workforce to meet national, state, and local health care needs.
Which Public Health Programs Do We Fund?
We fund schools of public health and other programs that provide graduate or specialized training in public health to expand and enhance training opportunities. These opportunities focus on technical, scientific, managerial, and leadership competencies of the current and future public health workforce.
Through cooperative agreements, the PHTC supports:
- The National Coordinating Center for Public Health Training
- Regional Public Health Training Centers
Preventive Medicine Residency with Integrative Health Care Training (PMRIH) Program
We fund the planning, development, operation, or participation in approved preventive medicine and public health residency programs (including financial assistance to residents). The PMRIH is part of the Preventive Medicine Residency (PMR) Program.
