Rural Residency Planning and Development Program

With the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, we help expand the health workforce in rural areas.

We develop new physician residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, and psychiatry.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible* if you’re a

  • Rural hospital
  • Rural community-based outpatient care center, including federally qualified health center, community mental health center, or rural health clinic
  • Health center operated by the Indian Health service, an Indian tribe or tribal organization, or an urban Indian organization;
  • School of allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine;
  • Public or private non-profit graduate medical education consortium
  • An entity such as a faith-based or community-based organization, capable of carrying out the grant activities.
