Introducing My BHW and ID.me

Do you currently use the BHW Customer Service Portal:

  • To apply to our scholarship and loan repayment programs?
  • As a participant in one of these programs?
  • As a point of contact for these programs at your organization, such as a site point of contact, school point of contact, or state primary care office?

This fall, we are introducing a new online experience for our program applicants, participants, and points of contact.

This new system, My BHW, will replace the existing BHW Customer Service Portal.

Advantages of the new My BHW include:

  • Modern design that’s easier to read and use
  • Improved navigation and support for mobile devices
  • Enhanced security to protect your data

Important dates:

  • November 23, 2024: If you are a program participant, you will start using the new Participant Portal in My BHW.
  • December 14, 2024: All applicants will join participants in using My BHW.

Protect your data: get ready today!

Before you begin using My BHW later this fall, you will need to verify your identity using ID.me.

Allow at least two weeks to verify your identity using ID.me. Starting December 14, your identity must be verified in ID.me before you can log into My BHW.

ID.me is an online service that federal and state government agencies use to verify your identity. It will protect the security of your My BHW account and help prevent anyone else from accessing your data.

When to verify

In November, we will be providing instructions for you to verify your identity using ID.me.

You may already have an ID.me account if you use online services with other federal agencies, such as the IRS, Veterans Administration, or Social Security. The instructions we provide in November will show you how to use that ID.me account with My BHW.

What you need to verify

ID.me provides a fast and efficient Self-Service option for identity verification.

To verify with Self-Service in ID.me, you will need:

  • A mobile phone with a camera
  • A government-issued photo ID (U.S. driver's license, state ID, U.S. passport, or U.S. passport card)
  • Your Social Security number

If you do not have these, you will need to verify your identity with an ID.me video chat agent and may need to provide additional documents. This process takes more time than the Self-Service option.

How long does it take to verify

In most cases, the process to create an ID.me account and verify your identity takes less than one day. But, if you do not have a mobile phone with a camera or a Social Security number, or if your government-issued photo ID is rejected, the process may take several days.
