Nurse Corps Scholarship Post-Graduation Training

Nurse Corps encourages new graduates to pursue a residency prior to fulfilling their service commitment.

What residencies are eligible?

You may request a deferment of your service commitment to complete a post-graduation training (PGT) residency, if it meets the following criteria:

How do I submit my PGT request?

You must request approval from Nurse Corps before you start your residency.

To request approval in My BHW, select “Postgraduate Training Request” found under the “My Activities” tab.

What documents must be included in the request?

With your request, attach:

  • Acceptance letter which includes:
    • Name of training program
    • Signature of training point of contact
    • Physical address of training program
    • Start and end dates of the training program
  • Documentation detailing the training program description e.g., brochure, introductory materials, or screenshots from the training program website.

How long is the service deferment?

You must start your service commitment within three months of the residency end date.

Does my residency count towards my service commitment?

It depends on your licensure type and your residency. See the chart below to determine if your residency counts towards your service commitment.
