What information should be included in the application abstract?

Include a summary of the project. Do not include the project director's name, address, phone number, or email address — the abstract is publicly available.

Are faculty with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree eligible as trainees?

No. Faculty trainees must hold a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD), or Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) degree.

Is the $1,000,000 maximum the total for the full five-year project?

No. Applicants may request up to $1,000,000 per year. Funding is contingent on annual congressional appropriations.

Who can serve as Project Director?

The Project Director must be employed by an applicant organization that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Additionally, include a staffing plan and job descriptions for key faculty/staff (Attachment 4), along with bio-sketches for key staff in the RSenior/Key Person Profile form (see "Other Required Forms" in the NOFO).

Which faculty specialties are eligible as trainees?

Trainees must hold a faculty appointment at an accredited dental school, dental hygiene school, or primary care dental residency program. Eligible residency programs include General Practice Residency, Advanced Education in General Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry, and Dental Public Health.

Does the 60-page limit include attachments and bio-sketches?

Yes. All attachments and bio-sketches count toward the page limit.
