This program increases the nursing workforce in rural and medically underserved areas to address the critical shortage of nurses, specifically in acute and long-term care settings.

- Public or private accredited schools of nursing, such as community colleges
Health care facilities
- Nursing centers
- Nurse-managed health clinics
- Ambulatory surgical center
- Academic health centers
- Indian Health Service health centers
- Native Hawaiian health center
- Hospital
- Nursing home
- Home health agency
- Hospice program
- Public health clinic
- Skilled nursing facility
- State or local department of public health
- Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs)
- Rural health clinics
Tribes & tribal organizations (if otherwise eligible)
- Native American tribal governments
- Native American tribal organizations
