Our workforce programs help strengthen the health workforce and connect skilled health care providers to communities in need, improving the health of people who need it most.

We offer scholarship, loan, and loan repayment programs to individuals and award grants to organizations (For example, schools, hospitals, health departments).

Community Health Worker Training Program (CHWTP)

Program Type: Grant
Topic: Public Health
Purpose: Increase the number of community health workers and health support workers and equip them with the skillsets needed to provide effective community outreach build trust with communities, support connections to and retention in care and support services, and implement other strategies to increase access to care and to assist individuals in prevention services and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and other public health emergencies in underserved communities.

Native Hawaiian Health Scholarship Program (NHHSP)

Program Type: Scholarship
Topic: Medicine; Nursing; Oral Health; Public Health
Purpose: Provide federal financial support for Native Hawaiians who are students at health professions schools, in return for a commitment to provide primary health services to the Native Hawaiian population in the State of Hawaii.

Public Health Scholarship Program (PHSP)

Program Type: Grant
Topic: Public Health
Purpose: Support organizations to develop scholarship programs that incentivize individuals to pursue careers in public health.

Public Health Training Centers Program (PHTC)

Program Type: Grant
Topic: Public Health
Purpose: Strengthen the public health workforce through tailored training and technical assistance through collaborative community-based projects.

The National HCOP Academies

Program Type: Grant
Topic: Behavioral or Mental Health; Medicine; Oral Health; Public Health
Purpose: Assist students from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter and successfully complete health profession schools. The program prepares students to meet the admissions requirements for the next level of their education and receive a health professions degree or certificate.
