Health Workforce Programs

Purpose: Develop a health care workforce that maximizes patient and family engagement to address gaps in health for older adults by integrating geriatrics and primary care and other appropriate specialties, including collaboration with community partners.

Purpose: Train doctoral health service psychology students, interns, and post-doctoral residents in integrated, interdisciplinary behavioral health for placement into community-based primary care settings in high-need and high-demand areas.

Purpose: Help states develop and implement innovative programs to address the dental workforce needs of designated dental health professional shortage areas (Dental HPSAs) in a manner appropriate to each state’s individual needs.

Purpose: Provide tailored training and technical assistance to the recipients of Health and Public Safety Workforce Resiliency Training Program (HRSA-22-109) and Promoting Resilience and Mental Health Among Health Professional Workforce (HRSA-22-110).

Purpose: Provide evidence-based planning, development, and training in health profession activities in order to reduce burnout and promote resiliency among the workforce.

Purpose: Expand the number of practicing professionals to provide addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery services in underserved communities.

Purpose: Support accredited nurse midwifery programs to train nurse midwives to grow and diversify the maternal and perinatal health nursing workforce in rural and underserved communities.

Purpose: Support community-based primary care residency programs to train primary care physician and dental residents in underserved and rural settings.

Purpose: Increase the supply and distribution of certified registered nurse anesthetists who are prepared and well positioned to practice independently and collaboratively within interprofessional teams and to deliver evidence-based, high-quality, and safe anesthesia and pain management services. The program aims to expand access to anesthesia services, especially to rural, urban, and tribal underserved communities nationwide.

Purpose: Support the creation of academies, consisting of academic-clinical-community partnerships, that develop and implement formal nurse education training curriculum used to train clinical nursing faculty and preceptors.
